So long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Goodbye!!

This is not goodbye to this blog, but goodbye to dreams of being an FA!! I think it's time to realise that indeed somethings were never meant to be. Well sometimes your emotions take over, and you let something drive you to a passion, that you fail to see the obstacles clearly visible just ahead of you. Well to begin with I don't have a perfect smile, and have limited customer service experience. What is more, I'm not in my 20s or 30s either but now driving down the 40s highway lol.

So what does one do, but sit back assess what should have been assessed initially, weigh the pros and cons, and set on a career path elsewhere. This assessment is needed basically for anything you set out to do, be it a career path, a new job or for that very matter choosing a life partner, a new home, the list is endless. Well, fortunately other areas in my life are fine and I cannot complain, but this desire to be an FA at the back of my head, has unfortunately got to go.

At least I can still admire those in uniform and chase them in flight to have them photographed, and perhaps take a moment to tell them they are living my dream job!!! So to all those FAs out there, hold your head up high, though not so high those looking at you think you are being arrogant, but high enough to breathe in deeply and walk tall and proud in that uniform you don! It's Auf Wiedersehen for me but it's Bon Voyage for you all there. So in the lyrics from the Sound of Music, "So long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Goodbye!!

As well in the words of Leonardo Di Vinci "For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return". At least I can take to the air at any given opportunity, and continue to live the dream though not as one serving but one being served!

  1. I'd rather be the one served than the one serving... ;)

Seriously though, sometimes we need to let go of one dream so that another can take its place. I had to do the same years ago and I'm quite happy with where I am now.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

  3. What is stopping you from being a FA?

Employers aren't allowed to discriminate against people for their age are they?

  4. Oh no, I feel for you. I was following this blog last year specifically to see if you'd make it. At 40 it can be hard but the job is not that glamorous nowadays, flight attendants in the years gone by were the "real flight attendants". So you have not missed much but I understand what you must miss with all the passion you invested in pursuing this path.

  5. I think a lot of other factors played in coming to this decision :(
